birthday party!
TOO MUCH CAKE.
TOO MUCH FOOD.
I am full to overflowing, and we have to go eat again tomorrow. I am never eating again.
This was the before-dinner cake.
The candles were blown out in order of seniority. First was Papa:

After this Kelsey made a full gourmet meal and we ate it. She also baked a cake with fresh fruit… but we decided to hold off until tomorrow. I sit here with my stomach on my lap. No photos – sorry!
We practice the most difficult kunst of all. We have five kids between us, hundreds of students and grads, and sometimes we get to travel to teach and to see family on the west coast or Europe. We live in a few places (or will in November) and prefer the one far from the madding crowd.

And look at all those blue, blue eyes! When I first met him my husband made a point of indicating his “Lake Louise Blue Eyes”. Your group has all different shades – like the Gulf coast.

Looks as though the birthday wishes to the whole group that I posted yesterday morning died aborning – so happy birthday to all, a day late.

Don’t get too excited – that was made by a local bakery! Chemical icing and all.
Kelsey made a lovely angel food that we will have this evening, with strawberries, raspberries and fresh blackberries. In fact, she and Eric are heading out right now to ravage the blackberry patch he found that still has lovely ripe berries!
